Getting started

Can someone I love use it if a smartphone is too hard now?

Yes. That is what Sunny is for. The screen shows big faces and one thing at a time, and Sunny speaks out loud. You create the account, install Sunny on the phone the person will use, and sign in once. Sunny brings in the contacts and photos already on that phone.

Can Sunny help someone I love use the phone?

Yes. Sunny gives the person a calm screen with big faces and a few large buttons in place of a busy one. The person using Sunny taps a face to call. Messages are read out loud, and the person can answer by speaking. There are no menus to get lost in, and nothing for the person to set up.

Is Sunny only for people living with dementia?

No. Sunny is for anyone who finds a normal phone too hard. That can be an older adult, a person whose memory or thinking is changing, someone living with Alzheimer's or another dementia, or someone whose illness or injury made a phone harder to use. You pick how simple the screen should be.

Can I set Sunny up for myself?

Yes. Choose "Sunny for you." You make the account, pick the Solo plan, and install the app on your own Android phone. Sign in once. Sunny brings in the contacts and photos already on that phone. No one else needs to be involved.

Is Sunny for children or teens?

Sunny is set up by an adult. Anyone who needs a simpler phone can use it, at any age, and nothing blocks that. Because Sunny includes an AI companion, California law asks us to say that companion chatbots may not be suitable for some minors. The adult responsible for that young person decides.

Plans and paying

How much does Sunny cost?

Sunny Solo is $9.99 a month or $99 a year. Sunny Family is $29.99 a month or $299 a year. The Sunny app is a free install from Google Play. The plan is what you pay for.

What is the difference between Solo and Family?

Solo is for one person who sets Sunny up alone: the calm screen, one-tap calls, messages read out loud, music, Sunny's voice, and reminders that person sets. Family adds a care circle, reminders the primary caregiver sets from anywhere, photos and moments, a daily note about how the day went, and Safety near home.

Who manages the account on each plan?

On the Solo plan, the person using Sunny manages their own account. On the Family plan, a primary caregiver or a designated primary contact manages the account and gets extra features to support that role.

Can I cancel?

Yes, any time, in two taps, in the same place you subscribed. Sunny keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for.

Privacy and safety

Is Sunny a person, or a computer?

Sunny is an AI companion: a computer program, not a person. If anyone asks, Sunny says so plainly. It is not a substitute for care from people.

Is Sunny a medical device?

No. Sunny is a companion and a family tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or monitor any condition.

What happens in an emergency?

Sunny is not an emergency service and cannot call 911. If the person using Sunny says something worrying, Sunny lets the primary caregiver know right away. Sunny offers to call the family. In an emergency, always call 911.

What happens in a hard moment, step by step

Who can see what the person using Sunny says to it?

By default, only the primary caregiver. The care circle sees activity and alerts, never the words. The primary caregiver can switch that on for a member. Messages the person sends to other people stay private.

Does Sunny track where the person using Sunny is?

Only if the primary caregiver turns on Safety near home, which is part of the Family plan. Sunny is their home screen, so it is always on. When this is turned on, Sunny checks where they are about once a minute, and their phone shows a small notice that Sunny shares where they are with their family. The primary caregiver turns it on, and can turn it off any time.

Do you sell our information?

We never use your family's information for ads, and we never sell anything that identifies you or the person using Sunny. The full details, in plain language, are in our Privacy Notice.

The phone

Which phones work with Sunny?

Android phones, including the one the person using Sunny already has. iPhone isn't supported yet. The Sunny app is a free install from Google Play. The plan is what you pay for.

Is Sunny a new phone, or an app?

An app. Sunny installs on an Android phone and gives it a calm, simple screen. The phone, the number, and the contacts stay the same.

Does Sunny use the camera?

Only for a family video call. When family drops in, the caller's face fills the screen, and while the camera is on, the screen of the person using Sunny says so. The camera is off the rest of the time.
